Prime Minister May visited India on a three-day trade mission, accompanied by a business delegation from across the UK, primarily comprising SME businesses from the technology and life sciences sectors. During the high profile visit, the PM inaugurated the UK / India Technology Summit in Delhi, had bilateral meetings with PM Modi about enhancing ties in key areas such as trade, investment, security and defence. The PM also visited the Southern city of Bangalore, India’s high-tech industry capital, to meet with Karnataka Chief Minister and top business leaders.
Amarjit spoke with Steph McGovern on the BBC Business Breakfast Show live about the rapidly expanding UK India trade relationship and the implications of the PM’s first major bilateral visit outside of the EU post-Brexit. He was interviewed in the BBC’s Salford studio about the growth opportunities in the Indian market, as well as the ongoing liberalisation of economy policy.
Amarjit also appeared on the BBC Radio 5 Live Wake up to Money Programme together with Lesley Batchelor OBE, Director General of the Institute of Export. Amarjit offered insights about the changing business landscape and how the visit may pave the way for an ambitious and possibly all embracing Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.
